About Me
My name is Ashley Kingsley,
I’ve spent more than 30 years performing as a session and touring keyboard player with numerous platinum-selling artists—including performing with Prince at one of his legendary aftershows. I’m currently the Musical Director for Beverley Knight MBE.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the piano or looking to take your playing to the next level, I’ll help you develop your skills, confidence and enjoyment of music.

Who do you teach?
I teach children, teenagers and adults of all abilities—from complete beginners to advanced players. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s age, level, interests and goals.
What styles of music do you teach?
I teach classical, pop, rock, jazz and contemporary piano, as well as improvisation, sight-reading, lead sheets and music theory.
Do you prepare students for piano exams?
Yes. I prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool examinations from Grades 1–8. I have a 100% pass rate with students who have taken exams.
Where do lessons take place?
Face-to-face lessons take place at my home studio in Hanover, Brighton. I also offer online lessons using a clear overhead camera view of the piano.
Can I try a piano lesson before committing?
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute taster session, online or in person, so we can discuss your goals and see whether my teaching style is right for you.
How much do lessons cost?
Both regular weekly lessons and flexible daytime drop-in lessons are available. Click “View Lesson Fees” for the latest prices and lesson options.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to rearrange a lesson. Lessons cancelled on the same day will count as used. If I need to cancel, the lesson will always be rearranged.
Do I need any piano experience to start lessons?
Not at all. I teach complete beginners as well as returning and advanced players. Lessons are tailored to your level, goals and the music you’d like to play.
